Farshchian

Website Re-Brand / Re-Design Proposal

Mahmoud Farshchian needs a significant increase in web traffic, public awareness, curator interest, and sales, and wants an online presence that authentically communicates the artist’s history, values, and caliber. Much of the arts industry utilizes modern-looking websites, as is the standard today. The Farshchian family would like to bring a fresh & high-end user experience to the artist’s site and social media accounts while also maintaining his unique aesthetic.

Belle Augusta will provide a comprehensive web development experience that culminates in the launch of a new Mahmoud Farshchian website to meet the family’s needs. I am happy to work alongside your team, including under the creative direction of Leila Farschian and in consult with Miranda Leigh, to create intentional web design, fresh visuals, aligned brand assets, a cohesive brand voice, targeted call-to-actions, and visual continuity across all marketing platforms. These will collectively act as a foundation to strengthen public awareness of Mahmoud Farshchian and his work and preserve his legacy with the highest level of integrity.

Project Includes

Custom Design & Brand Kit

I welcome unlimited client edits to pages during the design process to ensure that the site meets your expectations. You’ll leave with a shareable brand kit containing all of the design elements and styles from the site.

Responsive & interactive design

We will integrate elegant scroll effects, UX animations, and subtle interactions to give the site life. Nothing too crazy (unless you want that)—just enough to feel engaging.

mobile optimized

No matter what device a visitor is using (over 50% usually view your website on their phone), everything will look intentionally designed and feel amazing.

content creation

Should we need updated or re-edited photos, logos, or other visual assets, I’m happy to create them and make everything look cohesive.

integrations

You can use your current email system, commerce platform, and marketing tools, or I can migrate you to new ones already integrated into your website. You’ll decide which works best.

search engine optimization

I update keywords across pages, descriptions, & URLS, and use SEO best practices when naming images so that you can be found by the elusive google webcrawlers.

Development Phases

  • I’ll meet with your web team for a comprehensive briefing of your current site’s functionalities and a clear understanding of your needs. Then I’ll turn that info into a text-based outline proposing a total number of necessary pages, page-mapping (how the pages click to one another), CTA placement, and any suggested integrations not already being used.

We will also start a shared google drive with:

    1) Passwords - all passwords and URL’s necessary to the design and development process.

    2) Copy - I’ll add this, read more below

    3) Assets - current or past logo and branding assets

    4) Content - the highest resolution available of artwork jpgs or pngs, image scans, and videos (If you keep any of these on another cloud platform, just share the login credentials here)

  • We’ll create an initial brand asset kit with colors, fonts, mission, and mood. This provides the visual guidelines to be applied across all online and marketing platforms. You may update these assets at any time during the design process if anything feels off, to ensure that the Farshchian ‘brand’ feels 100% authentic.

  • Wireframes are your first chance to visualize your website. While not nearly as detailed as the final site will be, these blueprint images give you a visual representation of the site’s overall layout. We will make all requested adjustments before we begin building the site.

Tentative pages will include: home/landing, gallery/authentication, history (with emphasis on his marital relationship as an influence), museum, shop, contact page, lead pages for each target demographic (curators, collectors, students, etc.), dynamic content page (e.g., blog), videos, privacy policy, refund policy, terms and conditions, and any other pages we decided on in Initial Planning.

  • The most user-friendly and future-proof platform upon which to build your site is Squarespace. I will custom code the entire site so that every element is unique to you. Placeholder text and imagery will be used in this phase, then the live mockups can be approved and/or edited as much as needed before eventually becoming your live site.

Another viable platform upon which to build the site is Webflow. The benefits of Webflow are more advanced animation and interactive options (including 3D potential) and a native super-smooth scroll (it feels like the mouse is floating down the page when you scroll). The downsides are that website maintenance will be far more complicated for you after our site hand-off (you would likely need to hire someone to make any changes beyond small edits), the process of adding dynamic content (blogs, etc.) is less intuitive & more time consuming, and the project timeline & project rate will be greater. If this is something you would like to explore, however, I’m happy to tell you more.

  • I’ll initially copy/paste all of your current site’s text into an editable document in google drive, creating individual ‘working copies’ for each current web page. We will edit this drive together until the copy sounds right and aligns with your brand voice. In the Copy & Content phase, we will finalize and add this updated copy, along with any completely brand new sections or paragraphs, page by page. Then we’ll migrate imagery, galleries, and videos.

  • At this phase, I will custom code UX interactions, scroll effects, and elegant animations to select elements to give your site life and make the user experience more engaging. Additionally, I will embed commerce, email campaigns/list-building, social media integrations, and all other third-party platforms needed.

  • We will test all pages and functionalities across the site and be sure they are 100% responsive to mobile, mobile side-view, iPad, laptop, and desktop. All contact forms, email captures, and call-to-actions will also be tested. At this phase, your site is live but password-protected, so that only we can see it.

  • Using google keywords and industry trends, we will integrate keywords into the short descriptions for google web crawlers, make sure that all images are named appropriately, and optimize all URL’s for efficient SEO. I will also integrate google analytics into the backend of your site so that you can continually view traffic sources, user behavior, and other metrics going forward.

  • This is purely technical and can take 1-5 days, depending on the speed at which registrar records are updated. During this time, your site may not be visible publicly. (This can also take just a couple of hours—it is fully dependent on the hosting company & registrar of your current site and domain.)

  • Everything is live! I will create 3 months of branded email templates complete with copy, imagery, and CTA’s to announce your new site, your NFT, and any other news you feel called to share. You have complete control over the language within these, can change them at any time, and can duplicate them for future emails with consistent branding. We can schedule these to go out weeks in advance.

  • Celebrate the incredible new online presence that we created together, then tell the world about it!

Project Timeline: 5-8 Weeks

This project can be expedited as follows:

Week One: Initial Planning, Brand Identity, & Wireframing (should Brand Identity require further discovery and research, this may be extended into the following week)

Week Two: Live Mock-Ups & Editing

Week Three-Four: Copy/Content + Edits, Integrations/Commerce (If we run into any dilemmas with third-party integrations, this stage may take another week—hopefully not!)

Week Five: Test Functionality & Responsiveness + Edit accordingly (there will almost certainly be edits here as we test across devices)

Week Six: Domain Pointing & Email Marketing Templates (should the domains update immediately, the extra week may not be needed)

Champagne!

Project Rate

My standard Flat Project Rate for a project of this size is $7200 and includes all items in the above proposal. I offer project rates in lieu of hourly rates, so that I may be available to dedicate as much time as is needed to maintain our project timeline. I ask that we schedule one to two standing meetings each week so that we can review and share feedback, check off action items, and keep everything on schedule. A 50% deposit of the total project rate is due upon booking, with the remaining balance due at project launch. Should anything not work as intended after the launch, I am available via email or Zoom for six weeks post-launch to swoop in and fix things. Everything will be outlined in our project contract, which we will both agree to and sign to kick things off.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and I hope to work together!
